Generally
When we claim that we make our handmade shaving accessories ourselves, we truly believe it. We're proud that we only place our PILS Shaving logo on products we've developed and handcrafted ourselves, and have never attempted to source cheaper mass-produced products. Therefore, we're extremely knowledgeable about our products. We don't want to keep this knowledge entirely to ourselves; we're happy to share selected topics with you here.
wet shaving
Wet shaving is the most thorough way to trim stubble. To achieve perfect results, the beard hair must first be softened. This is best achieved with PILS shaving soap, which is whipped into a creamy, thick lather using a shaving brush. Allow the lather to sit for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the beard hairs and create a smooth, lubricating surface. Then, once the lather has collapsed slightly, reapply it to begin shaving. After this preparation, the razor blade gently and deeply cuts through each beard hair without damaging the skin. Then, rinse your face of any remaining lather with plenty of water and apply the soothing PILS care products.
Production
PILS shaving products owe their high quality primarily to their careful and time-consuming manufacturing process. Our brush maker is one of the few who still masters the intricate craftsmanship of crafting a top-quality brush head from the finest badger hair. A metal ring is slid over the base of the hand-shaped hair and then secured with a special adhesive. PILS razors are perfectly matched to standard razor blades and blade systems. Traditional craftsmanship meets the latest technology: Manual processing of machine-made precision parts makes each product unique. The PILS shaving stands are another masterpiece. A sophisticated system ensures that brushes and razors are held very securely. All surfaces are treated until they meet our high standards. These and many other complex work steps clearly distinguish us from other manufacturers.
Materials
The materials for our products are selected after careful consideration and testing to determine which material is best for each purpose. Therefore, we use only the finest hair available on the global market for our shaving brushes. Our razors, brush handles, and stands are made exclusively from components that can withstand daily wear and tear for years and can be replaced if necessary. The brass parts we use are coated with particularly thick layers of real gold or nickel, and we only use the highest quality stainless steel and acrylic components. We also specialize in creating unique pieces from platinum, gold, or other precious metals upon request.
